ALL ABOUT KINDERGARTEN AT KILOUGH
Welcome to Kindergarten at Kilough Elementary School. We look
forward to the opportunity to work with you and your child. The
Kindergarten classrooms at KES are standards-based classrooms. We employ
many research-based strategies to teach our students to become
independent learners. All children are engaged in the learning process
as teachers use many methods to encourage participation from each child.
Whole group instruction, small group instruction, and individualized
instruction are implemented each day. Differentiated Instruction is an
essential part of our daily plans. Children are allowed to move at their
own pace while being challenged in all subject areas. All students are
regularly assessed using formative and summative assessments. Report
cards are distributed four times per year. Kindergarten report cards are
standards-based and reflect the new CCGPS. All classrooms are equipped
with a Smartboard and surround-sound to visually enhance our lessons.
Students participate in the lessons by actively using the ClearTouch along with the teacher and peers. Kindergarten students are taught our
school-wide behavior program, PAWS. A description can be found in your
child’s school agenda book.
